    Multiple RS Instances but with.....

I know it is possible to have multiple instances of RS on one machine but can they share the same Sql server instance?
I don't want them to share the same ReportServer database, i'm not trying to create a webfarm
I want each RS to have its own RSdb and RSTempdbs in one Sql server instance.

I'm trying to do this right now but without any luck? I'd like to know if this is supported to i can stop troubleshooting.

    I'm using:
RS 2005 Std (forms auth) ed on W2K3
SQL Server 05 on another machine on W2K3.

    Thank you

    Marvin

I personally haven't tried this but I don't see a reason why it won't work. You need to use RS config utility to create the report catalogs on that server for each RS instance. What doesn't work exactly?

Re: Multiple RS Instances but with.....

I installed my default RS instance on a website (using hostname) onto an existing remote database server...I implemented security extention and everything worked fine. Then i proceeded to install a Named RS instance on another website (using hostname) on the same webserver and installed a second set of dabases on the remote database server, i deployed the custom sec extension and it worked fine....but the default instance broke...started getting errors like cannot communicate with the report server..

Then i decided to installed another named instance using similar setup, but havent configured it yet the other two websites now says: Invalid URI: The format of the URI could not be determined after clicking submit on the Report Manager Forms Login.

My Config tools says that all items are green except Initialization is greyed out. Any ideas?

I don't think is the database then. I'd leave Windows security on, just to make sure that this setup works. Most likely, it is custom secuirty that is messing things up.
