Reporting Service 2008 report manager link

    Hi Teo,

Cannot wait for your new book. I just install Feb CTP on Windows 2008. I understand there is no need for IIS now, and I configure the reporting service after the installation. I am able to access http://abc/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx fine from the server.

However when I access the link from client machine, it gives me "cannot display..." error, is there anything I miss?

    Thanks as always.

    Don

Sounds like the server is not accessible by name so the request doesn't even reach SSRS. A DNS issue, perhaps? Try changing the hosts file in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and assigning the machine name to a TCP address.

Re: Reporting Service 2008 report manager link

Thanks Teo, I try couple of things and eventually get it work, of course, one of them is reboot, then I go to reporting service configuration, and change the port from 80 to 8080, or 2345, all of sudden, it works, but when I change back to 80, it doesn't work, so I change back and forth, then all of sudden, it works, I am still not so sure exactly the problem, but at least it is working now, I guess the new OS (Window 2008) and Reporting Services without IIS make things a little bit interesting.

    Don
