Those of you preparing for Microsoft exam 70-445 Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Business Intelligence – Implementation and Maintenance may be interested to know that Microsoft Press has just published a training kit with the same title which I co-authored with Erik Veerman, Dejan Sarka, and Javier Loria from Solid Quality Learning. I wrote four of the SSAS chapters. I also took the actual exam prior to writing the content so I hope the book will help you to prepare and pass 70-445.

I was glad to see this post because something odd happened today in this regard. I’ve pre-ordered this book from Amazon and they wrote me today saying:

Can you comment on the release date? Just curious.
Another thing I’m wondering about, with this cert book coming out so close to SQL 2008 and the MCITP for BI book that hasn’t even come out yet, thought its scheduled, can you tell me what people behind the scenes are thinking for these certs; how will 2008 affect these certs? Will it take 3 years for new ones for 2008 so we might as well go with MCTS and MCITP BI for 2005?
Don’t know what MS Press is up to but I will definately try to find out. The book manuscript has been accepted by MS more than a month ago.
Not many things will change on the SQL Server 2008 BI arena so I don’t think that the book will become obsolete when SQL Server 2008 is out. SQL Server 2008 will be a minor upgrade from functionality standpoint for all BI services – SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS.
