SQL Server 2016 Reporting Services was a major upgrade to the reporting platform. The Report Manager was renamed to the Report Portal, and received a complete overhaul. It is very modern and sleek, with the ability to now embed KPIs! In addition, the Report Builder tool received a face lift, updating its interface to the more modern Office look. Reports received two new chart types, the Tree Map and Sunburst. The biggest enhancement is the brand new Mobile Report Publisher! This powerful tool lets you quickly and easily create reports for a variety of platforms such as Apple’s iOS and Android. But the great news is that it’s not just for mobile platforms, it works great in standard web browsers as well, making it an ideal tool for creating dashboards for all your platforms.
